Final Mock up Double Page Spread

This is my mock up for my double page spread. I have decided to use this design for my final product because I really like it and I have made a front cover and contents page experimenting with this particular design. To start off with I thought of the background. I wanted the same background as the front cover and the contents page so I stuck with the splattered paint. I wanted to make the splattered paint image spread across the two pages but I thought it would look silly, so I decided to make two seperate images of the same thing. I thought that it looked a bit strange so I decided to flip one image 180 degrees so it was reflected onto the opposite page. I also thought that each image was to dark and you wouldnt be able to see the text, so I made the images lighter by editing them in Microsoft Fireworks.

Once I had got the background over with I thought about what image I wanted on one side of the page. I decided to use one of my own images but I couldnt decide which one. So eventually I went for the one I have used. I had to edit it in Fireworks because the background didnt look right at all. I got rid of the background completly so that you can see the background a lot better. I also sharpened the image so that it it really stands out.

The next thing that I thought about was the headline and the text. I wanted the headline to be simple and to tell the audience what they are about to read. Underneath the headline I wanted and catchphrase or sentence that really catches the reader's attention. However on the opposite page (the page with big image) I didnt want to much text because I thought it would ruin the page, so I just decided to put the name of the model at the top left and some information about what is on the next page in the other corner. I also put a text box on the left page so I know where the text for the interview would go.

Whilst I was working on this mock up, I suddenly realised that I needed to make a album cover for the singer because I wanted to put it on my double page spread. So I quickly made an image that I could use for the album cover. I remember looking at album cover a while ago and I really liked it so wanted to make GWS' album to look similar. Eventually, I went onto the internet and tried to look for some 'explosive' background images to use. I thought that because the image I wanted to use was black and red, I needed a background that had similar colours. I found the image I have used and thought it was perfect. There was a small space in the middle where I could place the photo and it really blended in.
